KITCHENER (Nov 5, 2008) -- Police are looking into links between a Halloween robbery on Highland Road and an ATM holdup earlier in October. Descriptions of the alleged criminal and images from surveillance film were similar, said acting Staff Sgt. Ken Jessop of Waterloo Regional Police. The latest incident happened at a convenience store near Westmount Road when a man confronted an employee and indicated he had a weapon. He left with cash. The first incident was Oct. 16, when a 59-year-old woman was threatened at knifepoint while using an ATM at the TD Canada Trust on Highland Road. The man demanded she withdraw cash. The woman refused and was able to get away and yell for help. The man is five feet 10 inches to six feet tall. Anyone with information can call police at 519-650-8500, ext. 3335.
