CAMBRIDGE (Nov 14, 2008) -- A scrap-metal recycling operation has city permission to use a neighbouring property for truck parking and outdoor storage. Combined Metal Industries operates at 454 Dobbie Dr. but needs extra storage space 175 metres away at 470 Dobbie Dr. and Clyde Road. Councillors approved the needed zoning changes, which include a requirement for landscaping, trees and a fence to hide the operation from neighbours. The site can't be used to store hazardous materials, chlorinated solutions or petroleum below ground. The restrictions also say it can't be used to house a dry cleaning operation.
