For Those About to Rock, We Celine You

A ROCK N' ROLL CLASSIC GETS AN EXTREME CHEESE MAKEOVER.

Frederich Nietzche once said "Without music life would be a mistake." A deep thought indeed from one of history's most celebrated philosophers. However, would ole "Neetch" have said the same thing after spending an extended amount of time listening to music on the internet? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

If he had, then maybe his quote would go something like this, "Without musical mistakes life would be awesome".

There is a particular "musical mistake" that would have given life to this quote--  Celine Dion covering AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long".

Hark! What is that sound? Is that the gentle jingle of a  frightened raccoon trapped in a dumpster? Are those the blissful chimes of angry chimpanzees attempting to fix a squeeky screen door? Perhaps it's the alluring whisper of a recycling truck unloading a pile of bottles onto a tin roof? Nope. It's Celine Dion, mercilessly butchering a rock n ' roll classic.

Why this inexplicable act of cruelty happened we may never know. It's an abomonation that defies explanation in much the same way  a donkey born with an elephant's trunk does. This is musical sacrilege that hasn't been demonstrated since Hillary Duff covered "My Generation", or worse,  since Britney Spears spewed out "Satisfaction".

The only good to come out of this debacle is that Total Guitar, a magazine out of the UK used practical discretion and judiciously crowned this cacaphony "The Worst Cover Song" of all time.

If you have an extra 4 1/2 minutes to spend in an otherwise idle day, go to www.youtube.com and type in "Celine Dion ACDC". (BOB FM is not legally obliged to reimburse you for the precious time in your life wasted by watching this. This is time you WILL. NOT. GET. BACK.)
