A transformer malfunction at Los Angeles International Airport caused a power outage on the remote west end of the airfield Tuesday, affecting three departing flights, authorities said. Firefighters sent to 7300 World Way West shortly before 11 a.m. quickly extinguished a trash fire that was sparked by the problem with the transformer, which involved high-voltage lines, d'Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
