DWTS, Elections Day, Assassins the Musical

Dancing With the Stars did a team Cha Cha Cha and a team Paso Doble.  The Paso was rated higher by the judges.  Cody did OK dancing with Edyta (filling in for Julianne).  Brooke and Derek received the season's first perfect score for their Viennese Waltz.  My Warren got a 21?  Seriously?  Yet Susan Lucci received a 24 and is rumored to be the one to go.  The odds are as follows from betonline.com:

I wonder if Ryan Seacrest will announce the winner of tonight's election?  Just kidding.

November 13, Anthony Edwards will return to ER in a flashback.  He asked that he not be paid but donations toward a hospital he wants to have built in Africa be made instead.  .

Maya Angelou said in an interview:  "So because Obama gets in or McCain gets in, it's not going to be repaired overnight. Nor will the social conversation be repaired overnight.However, I would encourage every voter to say to his or her candidate, go in and do it, and you will not do it alone. I will help. You have to get up off that sofa or off that couch and give something to the country -- even if it's one hour every other week to an old people's home -- I will read, go into the children's ward and read, or give to your church or your synagogue or your mosque. ... Offer something to the country. So you don't just sit there." I thought that was worth repeating.

Hard to believe that women in this country have not been allowed to vote for even 100 years.  And in many countries women still aren't allowed to vote because they're opinion doesn't matter.  Remember that.   Don't forget to vote on this election day.

NBC has ordered an additional nine episodes of its freshman comedy Kath & Kim, which airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET.   Simpsons Halloween special Treehouse of Horror XIX, with spoofs of Transformers, Mad Men and It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, scored big ratings. The show drew 12.5 million viewers, its best since 2004 (excluding following the Super Bowl).

Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas is back on the market after breaking up with Jesse Csincsak.  DeAnna is going to donate her engagement ring to charity and continue her search for love, she says.

A marvelous musical is opening Thursday at TTU's Backdoor Playhouse.  It's called Assassins with music and lyrics by the incredible Stephen Sondheim.  My good friend Mark Creter (dancing Jennifer's husband) is the director.  And it has Charles Long and Dillon James in it, regulars on this show.  Sure, it's all about people who have assassinated or tried to assassinate presidents, but it's also a Sondheim musical.  You need to see it.  It runs Nov. 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 15 at 8p, Nov. 13 at 10pm and Nov. 15 at 2pm.  General admission is $10, call 372-6595.  It's a must-see.

THE GERMS ON FEMALE HANDS

Researchers studying bacteria found on the human hand say they discovered many more types than they had expected to find. And, they've also found that women have a greater variety on their hands than men do. The researchers aren't sure why that is, but it could have something to do with the acidity of the skin. Men generally have more acidic skin than women. They say other possibilities include differences in sweat and oil gland production, the frequency of moisturizer or cosmetics applications, skin thickness or hormone production. Still, the researchers say it's nothing to panic about, stressing "the vast majority of the bacteria" on the human body "are either harmless or beneficial."

 

THE WRONG WAY TO IMPRESS A GIRL

A late-night visit to an airplane at Detroit Metropolitan Airport has landed a Michigan couple in trouble. A 22-year-old man whose job involves cleaning airplanes was busted for bringing his girlfriend aboard a Northwest Airlines plane. An airport spokesman says the young man apparently was trying to impress his 18-year-old girlfriend. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report the couple was caught on camera and arrested for breaching security.

A Florida woman remained in jail Monday, two days after a corrections officer found a glass crack pipe -- in the crack of her buttocks. 38-year-old Evelyn Russo was being processed into the jail on an auto burglary charge. A corrections deputy said Russo denied having any drugs or paraphernalia on her. However, the deputy found the glass crack pipe between her butt cheeks during a search. She is now charged with auto burglary and introducing contraband into a detention facility.
